Halda reliability and durability is legendary, of course no batteries to worry about. It doesn't come with a cable, t-adapter or any of those little Halda clips, but does set change gears. I'd be using it for myself except that my new car doesn't have a mechanical speedometer drive. It was always speedometer-driven.
I'm selling a 1980 Halda twinmaster rally odometer, the later model with leather-textured plastic case,s n its spent time in all sorts of cars, notably 1957 ford ranch wagon, Valarie' police cruiser used for course layout, lads 1500s and dodge colt production car. Progress, eh. It would clean up quite nicely, but I didn't want to take apart do so since still works fine. The spade terminal attached to light wire isn't factory, but it does making wiring easier.
The wear you see is all from age and use - it was bought in Ottawa 1980, so its been around a while. Different gears are easy to get if the set doesn't work for you. It will come off easily if you wish to restore absolutely original.
